"ARUHI" is "just a day"
Hello, I am Tomoko, the founder of ARUHI.
I am a wife, the mother of an adorable daughter, and an artist who is always working with my hands.
ARUHI is an opportunity to communicate the intersection of nature, education, and art for children and their parents primarily through seasonal handcrafts and play. ARUHI also has a library archive of the handworks created in the past, to inspire new projects for the future.
When children encounter handworks that bring seasons, nature, foods, daily living knowledge, and ideas to the forefront, this inspires educational moments everyday. We have designed projects that are simple and easy, that can be enjoyed by anyone. No matter when you discover us, I know that you will leave with something that can enhance your life.
I am from Tokyo and studied textile design at an art university. After that, I spent 10 years working as a graphic designer. I now live in an environment that is closer to nature in southern California, and the time spent here with my daughter has brought about new reflections and changes in myself. Children and families together, being aware of seasonal changes and living in harmony with natural cycles. That is my neverending theme. The handworks produced by our two hands in everyday living are the product of our “ARUHI.” I hope that it can combine with your own “ARUHI” and be of some small help to you.
Thank you for finding your way here.
